Future Forward is a hands on STEM team challenge that combines creativity, problem solving, coding and engineering. Working in teams, participants compete in a series of challenges to gain the components and equipment needed to build their own micro powered vehicles, with everyone encouraged to get involved in the design, construction and testing process.
Once built, teams programme and refine their vehicle before putting it through its paces.
They will need to test ideas, solve problems, make improvements and work together to get the best performance from their design.
The activity creates a lively mix of collaboration, experimentation and friendly competition, while introducing participants to STEM skills in an accessible and engaging way. It is particularly well suited to groups looking for something practical, innovative and different from a traditional team building activity.
It is energetic, practical and highly collaborative, giving everyone a role to play while encouraging experimentation, communication and a little friendly competition.
- What the team does
- Team challenges help earn the parts to build a remote controlled vehicle ready for racing and donating.
- What gets donated
- Microbit educational PCBs and the vehicles.
- The impact
- Future Forward turns team building into an opportunity to inspire the next generation. As teams develop their own STEM skills through building and coding, the wider impact of the event supports young people by helping create access to engaging science, technology, engineering and maths experiences. The result is a purposeful team challenge that develops collaboration and creative thinking while helping spark curiosity, confidence and future aspirations in young people.
