Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies this website uses and what each one is for. A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between pages or between visits.
The short version
We use a small number of cookies. Some are needed for the site to work at all. The rest are for measuring how the site is used, and those only run if you agree to them.
You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Cookies we set
Strictly necessary
These make the site work. They cannot be switched off.
- Your cookie choice. Remembers whether you accepted or declined the others, so you are not asked on every page.
- Checkout. When you buy a DIY kit, our payment provider Stripe sets cookies to process the payment and to detect fraud. Without these a payment cannot be taken.
Analytics, only with your agreement
These tell us which pages are read and which are ignored, so we can improve the site. They do not identify you by name.
- Google Analytics. Counts visits, which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world visitors are, and how they found us.
- Microsoft Clarity Behaviour metrics: Mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, and navigation paths. Technical data: Browser type, device type, and operating system. Anonymised identifiers: Unique session IDs to connect your interactions during a single visit.
If you decline, these are not set.
Cookies set by other people
Some pages include content from other services, and those services may set their own cookies.
- Stripe, for payments.
- Zoho, where a form is embedded from their service.
- Google, for analytics and for the reviews link in our header.
- Microsoft, for analytics.
Each of those runs under its own privacy and cookie policy, which you can read on their websites.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie settings link in the footer of any page.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. All the main browsers let you do this, though blocking everything may stop parts of this or any other site working properly.
